New Jersey man charged with fraudulently buying cell phone and service

TOWN OF ULSTER – A 25-yeer-old Passaic, New Jersey man was committed
to the Ulster County Jail on Tuesday after an investigation into the fraudulent
purchase of a cell phone and service.

Ulster Town Police said Franklyn Martinez used a forged New Jersey driver’s
license as identification to obtain a cell phone and service from the
AT&T store on Ulster Avenue in the Town of Ulster.

He was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a forged instrument
as felonies and one count of criminal impersonation as a misdemeanor.

Martinez was arraigned and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu
of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.

The investigation is continuing and more charges are possible, police
said.
