NEWBURGH – While Washington Lake, the City of Newburgh’s primary
water source is in the Town of Newburgh, the contamination issue does
not impact the town. It only affects the city.

“Our water supply and distribution systems are completely separate
from the city,” Town Supervisor Gilbert Piaquadio said on Tuesday.
“They are not connected. They are not even close. The water emergency
in the City of Newburgh has nothing to do with the town whatsoever.”

The Town of Newburgh receives its water from the Delaware Aqueduct and
is treated in a new state-of-the-art water treatment plant built and operated
by the town.
