Woman charged with sideswiping Town of Newburgh police car conducting traffic stop

TOWN OF NEWBURGH – A Town of Newburgh Police car with its emergency lights on that had pulled over a motorist on northbound Route 32, was sideswiped by a passing motorist early Saturday. No one was injured.
The offending vehicle was located on Route 32 near Plattekill Elementary School. Investigation revealed the driver, Karen McCormack, 57, of New Paltz, was driving in an intoxicated condition, police said.
McCormack was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, driving with a blood alcohol content of over .08 percent, leaving the scene of a property damage auto accident, failure to use due care approaching an emergency vehicle – the New York State Move Over Law, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.  She was processed and released with a future court date.
