BEACON – The City of Beacon continues to mull over the consolidation of its three firehouses into one new one. No decision has been made, but the council has voted to hire a consultant to explore potential sites.
Mayor Randy Casale said Robert Mitchell Associates will exam options.
“This study is just to look at where we can find a place to put a consolidated firehouse and what it would take to buy the property, and then he will come back with a recommendation,” Casale said.
The consultant will work with a committee the mayor assembled recently to review the options.  In 2006, the city hired the same consultant to consider a possible consolidation of firehouses.
