GOSHEN – Welfare fraud arrests that have been undertaken since Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus and District Attorney David Hoovler took office some two years ago, will continue, Neuhaus said.
The periodic crackdown has saved the county money by eliminating the abuses, and Neuhaus said they will continue.
“You are still going to see a lot of decreases in the amount of usage in welfare because of people that are abusing the system, but there is some work that Albany can do to close up these loop holes,” the county executive said.
Neuhaus said the problem is not the federal tax code when it comes to welfare fraud; it is the state tax code.
