Dubaldi

GOSHEN – Former Orange County Republican political operative Carmen Dubaldi of New Windsor pled guilty in Orange County Court on Wednesday to three felony counts of grand larceny for stealing a total of $120,000 from the campaign fund accounts of State Senator William Larkin, former Orange County Executive Edward Diana and former State Assemblywoman Annie Rabbitt, now the county clerk. He has since repaid all of the money.
At the time of the thefts, Dubaldi, 48, was the treasurer of all three campaigns. He was also New Windsor GOP chairman.
“Mr. Dubaldi has betrayed the public trust and should be punished to the limit of the law,” Larkin spokesman Brian Maher said after the guilty plea. “Senator Larkin remains confident in our criminal justice system and believes that the judge will deliver an appropriate punishment.”
The Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, which prosecuted the case, recommended five years probation when Dubaldi is sentenced in June. The judge could give him one to three years in prison.
