PUTNAM VALLEY – Over $24 million in funding has been placed in the state budget to construct a Pudding Street overpass on the Taconic State Parkway in Putnam Valley, but it may not be built until 2019-2020.
The funding was secured by State Senator Susan Serino (R, Hyde Park), after it was pointed out to her that school buses must cross the highway daily at that dangerous intersection placing children’s lives at risk.
Serino termed the overpass project, two decades in the making, “bureaucracy at its worst.”
While the money has been allocated, “now it’s up to [the State Department of Transportation] to ensure that the project doesn’t languish on the list,” the senator said.
