WHITE PLAINS – A Yonkers man was sentenced in Westchester County
Court on Thursday to 25 years in state prison in the shooting death of
another man, who was ambushed.
Edwin Palestina, 23, has been convicted of manslaughter and attempted
murder in the death of 23-year-old Rodney Saunders on May 1, 2014.
At about 2 that morning, Saunders was attempted to get into his house
when he was struck by six bullets fired by two men.
A witness looking out of his window was also shot age with the bullet
grazing his shoulder.
The two shooters ran to a waiting minivan and fled the area.
An intensive investigation led to Palestina as one of the perpetrators.
He was arrested by Yonkers Police and the FBI in Houston, Texas on June
16, 2015.
