NEW CITY – Rockland County’s water conservation efforts will be getting a big boost with a $250,000 allotment from the state budget.
County Legislator Harriet Cornell, who chairs the Rockland County Task Force on Water Resources Management, said the funds will allow the county to continue its efforts to reduce water use ensuring that demand does not exceed supply.
“A small amount of that will be used to help prepare a comprehensive plan, but most of the money will be used for implementation, for outreach, education measures and water audits, and potentially incentives,” Cornell said.
County Executive Edwin Day said the state grant will help the county perform tasks that residents have said are important to them and to the county’s future when it comes to insuring adequate and safe drinking water going forward into the future.
