POUGHKEEPSIE – The 5K,
Half-Marathon and Full-Marathon races, an annual fundraiser, fun weekend
for the Walkway Over the Hudson will have a new component this summer.
In addition to the full schedule of events on Sunday, June 12, the day
before will see the debut of the new “Think Differently Dash.”

Organizers gather in downtown Poughkeepsie to announce the Dash

Walkway Executive Director Elizabeth Waldstein-Hart and a host of Dutchess County and Poughkeepsie officials and supporters announced the event on Tuesday.
“’The Think Differently Dash’ is going to be a one-mile run on Saturday, June 11th in downtown Poughkeepsie,” Waldstein-Hart said. “The dash is specifically designed for people with mental, physical disabilities, who want to come out and join us for this one-mile run.”
Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro said the dash “embodies the philosophy we in Dutchess County Government have undertaken: choosing to look past what makes us different, instead embracing and fostering the potential inside each of us.”
Participants will be charged $10 to run down Main Street to a finish
line at Mid-Hudson Civic Center.
Following the Dash, the Health and Wellness Expo will open at the Center.
