POUGHKEEPSIE – Mayor Robert Rolison will appoint Thomas O’Neill as City of Poughkeepsie judge.  His appointment will take effect on April 1.
O’Neill has some four decades of legal experience and is well qualified for the post, the mayor said.  Before becoming a lawyer, O’Neill was a Poughkeepsie Town police officer.
“He is also a former city councilperson, former chairman of the city council,” Rolison said.  “He has been so many great things within the City of Poughkeepsie, this is a great person to be a city judge.”
Current Judge Katherine Moloney’s term expires at the end of March. The mayor has appointed O’Neill to take her place.
On March 8, a Judicial Screening Committee found O’Neill “highly qualified” to be appointed city court judge.
