WHITE PLAINS – A 40-year-old Yonkers man is in the Westchester
County Jail on murder charged in connection with death of a neighbor in
that city.

Karmel Mills was arraigned on Monday and charged with two counts of murder
and one count each of burglary, and strangulation.

Police were called to 52 Ravine Avenue in Yonkers after 7 p.m. on January
18 where they found the door to David Pinnock’s apartment broken
off the hinges and Mills choking him. Police ordered him to stop, which
he did and the victim, who had no pulse, was rushed to Westchester Medical
Center where he was placed in an induced coma and attached to a ventilator.

Pinnock had suffered blunt force trauma, kidney and lung failure as well
as brain damage. He was removed from the ventilator and died on February
6.

If convicted of murder, Mills could face 25 years to life in state prison.
