KINGSTON – Law professor Zephyr Teachout captured the endorsement of the Ulster County Democratic Committee for the 19th District Congressional seat. She defeated challenger Will Yandick of Columbia County.
Ulster County Comptroller Elliott Auerbach nominated Teachout for the party’s designation, which she won on a weighted vote Thursday night.
Ulster is one of the more populated counties in the 11-county district.
Incumbent Christopher Gibson, a Republican, is not seeking reelection and instead is considering a run for governor in two years. Several Republicans have announced.
