Homemade license plates lead to two arrests

WOODRIDGE – Two men were arrested by Woodridge Village Police after they were stopped while driving in separate vehicles on County Road 53, Old Falls Road, in the village, with homemade license plates on their vehicle.
Lewis Kearney of Glen Wild and Chester Hallock, told officers they were part of the sovereign nation movement. The writing on their license plates declared the vehicles were not subject to taxation or motor vehicle rules.
When stopped, Kearney and Hallock refused to provide police with identification, driver’s license, vehicle documents or proof of insurance.
Fallsburg Police were called in to assist.
Both men were charged with obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest. Kearney was also charged with unregistered vehicle, uninspected vehicle, and plates not displayed.
Hallock was also charged with unregistered motor vehicle uninsured vehicle, unlicensed operator and plates not displayed.
Both were and sent to the Sullivan County Jail.  Bail was set at $5,000 for Kearney and $500 for Hallock.
