KINGSTON – A Marlboro man faces up to 25 years in state prison after he pled guilty in Ulster County Court to felony course of sexual conduct against a child.
Alan Edwards, 62, admitted that between October 1, 2014 and October 3,
2015, he engaged in two or more sex acts, including at least one act of
oral sexual conduct, with a child under the age of 11.
“As is all too common, this defendant befriended one of the victim’s families and then utilized that friendship to gain access to innocent and vulnerable children,” said District Attorney Holley Carnright.
In addition to prison time, Edwards faces up to 20 years of post-release
supervision and will be required to register for life with the state sex
offender registry.
At the time of his arrest in October 2015, police said his alleged victims were two nine-year-old children, both of whom knew Edwards. He was arrested following investigation by the Ulster County Family and Child Advocacy Center and Marlboro Town Police.
