KINGSTON – Kingston High School was placed in lockdown for about
15 minutes Tuesday morning when two female students became involved in
a physical altercation resulting in police officers being called in.
One student was charged with misdemeanor assault against the other.
School district administrators said the lockdown was strictly a precautionary
measure.
The incident stemmed from a personal conflict between the two students
and there was never a threat of violence to the entire student body, school
officials said.
“We understand that hearing about physical altercations in an educational
institution can be very disturbing and unsettling, especially in an age
of heightened awareness around school safety,” a district statement
read. “We want parents to know that the lockdown has been lifted
and students are safe.”
