NEWBURGH – Three men have been arrested and charged last Friday
with possessing a loaded handgun following an encounter in the City of
Newburgh.

Orange County sheriff’s deputies assigned to a directed patrol aimed
at reducing gun violence in the city approached a suspicious vehicle on
Johnston Street with the passenger door opened and an item was thrown
under the car.

A search of the area turned up a .38 caliber revolver with the serial
number removed.

Charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon were Lashawn Grey,
19, and Demetrice McClean, 21, both of Newburgh, and Maurice Everett,
20, of Cameron, North Carolina.

They were all remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $50,000 each.
