MONTICELLO – The Sullivan County Legislature has not webcast its meetings for years, not since a state Assembly member item paid for the service for six months some eight years ago.
Sullivan lawmakers on Thursday agreed to change county rules to allow the live coverage, said Legislature Chairman Luis Alvarez.
Monthly sessions as well as committee meetings will be webcast live to give the public transparency and an archive of government information, Alvarez said.  Only executive sessions will be exempt from the live webcasts.
The Dutchess County Legislature and the Westchester County Board of Legislators provide live webcasts of all committees and monthly sessions. In Ulster County, the legislature provides live webcasts of monthly meetings, but not committees.
The Orange County Legislature provides no Internet coverage, but records the sessions on video and plays them back on cable TV.
