MONTROSE – The VA Hudson Valley will be participating in a nationwide effort this coming Saturday, February 27 to reduce the number of patients waiting the longest for care at the VA hospitals at Castle Point and Montrose.
Long delays in providing healthcare to vets have been a nationwide concern for the VA in recent years.
For the most part, both area facilities are doing well in terms of providing timely care for patients, said spokesman Jason Tudor.
There are a few areas where there are backlogs and they include neurology, urology, dermatology and radiology.
A team of clinical leaders and administrators will be at both hospitals to focus on trimming the backlogs. The goal is to reach out to all veterans identified as having the most important and acute needs to make sure VA Hudson Valley is meeting their health care needs.
VA Hudson Valley conducts some weekend clinics and those will continue.
Once the Access Stand Down is completed, the VA Hudson Valley will conduct an after-action review to identify successes and see what future actions are needed to make further improvements in care.
