KINGSTON – Police in Kingston say the owner of a car dealership is accused of junking a car that had been brought in for repairs.
Police say last July, the owners of the car took it back to the dealer where it was purchased for repairs.  When they returned several months later, the vehicle was no longer there.
The owners reported it stolen on February 9.
Police say an investigation revealed that Michael Labarerra, 60, sold the vehicle to a local metal recycler in August and signed documents stating he was the owner and had the right to scrap it.
Labarerra is charged with grand larceny and falsifying business records, both misdemeanors and making a false written statement, a misdemeanor.
The investigation is continuing.
