MAHOPAC – Philip Oliva of Somers Saturday formally announced his
candidacy for the Republican nomination for the 18th Congressional District
seat. A June 28 primary election will decide who will challenge Democratic
incumbent Sean Patrick Maloney.

Oliva is currently a top staffer for Westchester County Executive Robert
Astorino, who attended the announcement rally along with Putnam County
Executive MaryEllen Odell and Republican leaders from Dutchess and Westchester.

To date, GOP committees in Dutchess, Orange, Putnam and Westchester counties
have endorsed Oliva.

He told his supporters at his Mahopac announcement that Washington is
broken and needs a major fix.
