KINGSTON – Mayor Steven Noble confirmed his administration is negotiating with Ulster County to come up with a new sales tax agreement between the City of Kingston and county. The current one expires in a month.
Noble expects the issue to be a major focus of his administration in the coming weeks.
“This agreement will likely be one of the most important negotiations we enter into,” the mayor said. “My team and I are considering all options and outcomes and will proceed after analyzing what actions best serve the public and protect our taxpayers.”
Noble said the City of Kingston “is committed to providing the essential services and high quality of life our residents, businesses and stakeholders deserve and expect through responsible spending practices.”  He said he expects a new sales tax agreement “will be resolved through an open dialogue with our partners at the county level.”
