Dutchess-Putnam area loses jobs in latest tally

ALBANY – The Dutchess-Putnam Metropolitan Division lost 2.5 percent of its jobs in December when compared to the same month in 2014, according to the latest state labor department statistics released on Thursday.
The Orange-Rockland-Westchester Metropolitan Division saw a 2.1 percent increase in jobs.
Sullivan County, which ranked second highest in the state for small counties, had a 1.1 percent increase in new jobs.
Ulster County jobs grew by 0.9 percent while Columbia County had 0.6 percent job growth.
Greene County had no increase in jobs year over year in December.
Hudson Valley-wide, jobs were up by 1.3 percent. Jobs were added in educational and health services; natural resources, mining and construction; other services; and manufacturing. Job losses were in professional and business services; leisure and hospitality; trade, transportation and utilities; and financial activities.  The government sector shed 1,500 jobs over the period.
