GOSHEN – Following the
lead of Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus to sell or lease portions
of county land adjacent to the Valley View nursing home in Goshen for
related health care facilities, the county legislature began discussions
on Wednesday.
Rules Committee Chairwoman Katie Bonelli said any new services provided by the private sector would create a continuum of care.
“Doing programs such as, maybe, assisted living and different types of programs that are currently not offered at Valley View,” Bonelli said. “This is no way in competition with Valley View; that is not what we are looking for. We are just trying to enhance the care that we would give overall to people in need in Orange County and that would include veterans as well.”
The county will ultimately seek proposals to develop continuum of care
facilities adjacent to the nursing home.
