NEWBURGH – James Gagliano, the retired FBI agent who was recently hired to run the day to day operations of the Newburgh Armory Unity Center, is out. He is no longer employed there.
Philanthropist William Kaplan, who is the driving force behind the armory’s community effort, made the announcement to board members.
Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus, who said he has the upmost respect
for Kaplan and Gagliano, said Newburgh is where it is now because of the
generosity of the Kaplan family and he had praise for Gagliano as well.
“Jimmy Gagliano is, in my opinion, another rock star,” Neuhaus said.  “Two alpha males; leaders. You look at these two people and they are both influential males. Jimmy is a West Point grad and an FBI agent. You really don’t get any more trustworthy and respected from the community than Jimmy.”
Specifics as to why Gagliano left the armory were to be discussed in executive session with its board.
