TOWN OF WALLKILL – More than two weeks after Silver Lake firefighter Justin Speights was stabbed to death at a Crawford New Year’s Eve party, police are looking into a possible connection to Spring Valley.
Over 100 people were at the party at which Speights was murdered early on the morning of January 1. He was stabbed while trying to break up a fight.
A number of people from Spring Valley reportedly attended and investigators are looking into the possibility that one of them may have been involved.
Authorities are also exploring whether someone involved may have gone to the emergency room at Ellenville Regional Hospital on New Year’s morning. According to a source, a group of young men came to the hospital with one heavily covered with blood. That incident is being investigated to determine if there is a connection with the Speight killing.
Speights, 20, was a resident of the Town of Wallkill in which the Silver Lake Fire Department is located.
