MONTICELLO – Local businessman George Nikolados has joined the race for Monticello Village trustee.
The political newcomer, who has the endorsement of the Republican and Workers’ Family parties, will run this spring in a four-way race against two Democratic incumbents and another Republican candidate.
Nikolados pledged to work “to change the culture in the Village Hall to focus more on planning and business development for rebuilding Monticello with the ultimate goal of making Monticello a vibrant cultural and economic center in the Catskills.”
Quoting Newburgh Mayor Judy Kennedy’s 10-year vision for a rebirth of her city, Nikolados said Newburgh “is a city which is not very different from today’s Monticello.” He said Monticello “must emulate Newburgh” in creating momentum to create a better Monticello.
