Degliomini: “It’s an education process”

MONTICELLO – Potential contractors and vendors arrived from all over the Hudson Valley, New York City, Connecticut, and even Utica, to hear how they may participate in providing goods and services to the Montreign Resort Casino during construction and after when it is operational.
Hosted by Empire Resorts, Inc., the company constructing the resort destination in Kiamesha Lake, the informational meeting at the Sullivan County Government Center on Tuesday drew some 250 people.
Empire Resort’s Executive Vice President Charles Degliomini said now that the state has granted a license to operate the casino, they must get down to brass tacks.
“We are doing additional outreach to make sure that qualified companies and vendors know about the opportunities,” Degliomini said.  “It’s an education process. There is a lot of information for people to understand what it’s going to take to do businesses with our project. So, we will be doing more of these meetings in the future.”
Potential vendor Susan Arann of American & International Designs, Inc. based in Staten Island said she attended because she is a women and minority owned business and would like to work in the casino.
“I have experience in it,” Arann said.  “I asked the question in the meeting about providing furniture for the construction trailers because that’s the best way I can get my foot in the door.”
Potential vendors ranged from on-site food providers for construction
crews to security staff and those who would provide construction materials.

Empire Resortsheld a second meeting on Tuesday afternoon in Orange County
presenting the same information.
