MIDDLETOWN – Motorists in the vicinity of Dolson Avenue between I-84 and Orange and Rockland Utilities’ Operations Center are advised to expect some brief delays late this morning as a new, large, electric transformer is delivered to O&R.
The 300,000-pound transformer, 30 feet long, 12 feet wide and 15 feet high, will be moved from the May Cane yard in Carlstadt, New Jersey at 9 a.m. today by a heavy-duty, hydraulic, flat-bed trailer truck.
The transformer, accompanied by contractor escort vehicles and police, is expected to arrive at O&R about noon.
The device is a 345kV/138kV electric substation transformer which is used to reduce high voltage electricity to lower voltage electricity for delivery to customers.
