KINGSTON – When the City
of Kingston needs to fill a civil service job, it typically places a notice
on a City Hall bulletin board, but now new Mayor Steven Noble wants to
spread the word out to a wider potential applicant base.

Noble plans on using 21st century means of letting the public know what
is available in the city job market.

“Now with today’s technology via email, social media, our
website, we think can get out message out much better and much more directly
to those who are in the job market and are looking for work in our city,”
he said, noting the Kingston Civil Service Office handles jobs in the
city and Kingston School District.
Noble said he also plans to work with community leaders to ensure any
new recruitment strategies address the gaps in opportunity for city residents
who have historically been disconnected from the municipal and civil service
employment process.
