GOSHEN – Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler joined Concerns of Police Survivor’s (COPS) and other organizations that support police officers in marking Saturday. January 9 as National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.  The purpose of the day was to recognize the positive impact that law enforcement officers have on the daily lives of residents and to show support and appreciation for the members of law enforcement.
Hoover said he and his office “support all law enforcement professionals as they perform the difficult and often dangerous work that keeps our communities safe.”
He said it is “important that we stand with law enforcement, particularly at a time when law enforcement officers are subjected to unprecedented public attacks.” The DA said as a former police officer and a prosecutor, “I am aware of the sacrifices law enforcement officers and their families routinely make on our behalf.”
Late this past week a man approached a Philadelphia police officer in a patrol car and fired more than a dozen shots at him, wounding him. The officer got out of his car, chased the man and shot him before other responding officers arrived and took the man into custody. The wounded policeman, who was hit by three of the bullets, is expected to make a full recovery.
