GOSHEN – The year 2015 was “a much more refreshing and rewarding year than 2014,” said Orange County Legislator Stephen Brescia, who was elected by his peers to the chairmanship again for this year.
Brescia noted the county deficit is down and that is in large part due to everyone working together.
“We definitely are working more collaboratively; we have done it in many regards,” the chairman said.  “We settled union contracts that were brought to us by Commissioner (Steven) Gross and the county executive’s side of the house. The early retirement – we have seen the fruits of that in 2015 – the savings we acquired, and also the separation agreement and many other measure that have come from this side of the house, county exec’s side of the house, commissioners and employees.”
Brescia said he is happy to see that the reconstruction of the county government center is about to begin and the Valley View nursing home will stay in county hands with expenses reduced by millions of dollars.
