New commandant takes over at West Point

WEST POINT – Brigadier Gen. Diana Holland Tuesday assumed command
as the Commandant of Cadets and the first woman to hold the post.

The 1990 graduate of West Point holds a Master of Arts degree from Duke
University and was a professor in the Department of History at the USMA.
Her military education includes US Army Command and General Staff College
and the School of Advances Military Studies.
Holland has commanded at every level from company through division.
Other assignments included Platoon Leader 79th Combat Battalion (Heavy)
in Germany, Plans officer for the US Central Command at MacDill Air Force
Base in Tampa; Commander of the 130th Engineer Brigade in Schofield Barracks
in Hawaii; executive officer for the Director of the Army Staff at the
Pentagon.

She most recently served as Deputy Commanding General for Support, 10th
Mountain Division (Light Infantry) at Fort Drum, New York.
