LAGRANGEVILLE – A LaGrange man is charged with manslaughter for allegedly running over a man, who had attacked his car with a baseball bat. Aaron Scott, 20, was charged with felony manslaughter.
Michael Esposito, 18, of Lagrangeville, had been run over and died at MidHudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie after being transported by ambulance.
Shortly after 9 p.m. on Sunday, State Police were called to Tymor Park in the Town of Union Vale for a reported car/pedestrian hit-and-run accident.
Investigation revealed that two groups of young adults ranging in age from 16 to 20 were at Tymor Park to engage in illegal conduct that resulted in a confrontation.
During that altercation, police said Esposito and Joseph Calderon, 18, of Hopewell Junction, retrieved baseball bats from their vehicle and began striking the car in which Scott was sitting. Scott then drove over Esposito and fled the scene. A short time later he was located by a Dutchess County Sheriff’s deputy on Manor Drive in LaGrange.
Scott is in the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail or $200,000 bond.
Calderon was charged with felony criminal mischief and released on an appearance ticket.
