LIBERTY – Long-time leader of Sullivan Renaissance, Glenn Pontier, has retired as executive director of the organization. He ended his 16-year career with the organization on New Year’s Eve.
Pontier helped develop the beautification contest after founder Sandra Gerry said she wanted to challenge and reward communities that addressed the way they appeared by developing a sense of pride and spirit.
Gerry said Pontier “has been an anchor for Sullivan Renaissance, an important member of our team.”
Pontier is credited with overseeing the organization as it grew to fund several community development initiatives in every town and village in Sullivan County. “My professional and personal goals have always been similar: a world free from want, a country I can be proud of, and a good life for my family,” he said.
Liberty native Peter Gozza, an economic development specialist, will assume the role as executive director in the new year.
