Monticello Interfaith Council elects new officers for 2016

MONTICELLO – The Monticello Interfaith Council has elected officers for the new year.
The council brings together representatives of various faith communities in the village as well as community organizations and interested individuals, for the purpose of dialogue, information sharing, celebration and social transformation. All people of faith are invited to participate.
Newly elected officers include Margaret Langston of Dharmakaya, a Buddhist organization, as president; Rhetta Eason of Catholic Charities, as vice president; Sister and Elder Hsieh of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, as vice presidents; Jeremy Mills of the United Methodist Church of Monticello, as treasurer; and Lawrence Fabian of the Liberty Bahai Community, as secretary.
Active since 2010, the council meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at various locations of the member institutions.
The council also hosts an annual Community Thanksgiving Meal and Ecumenical Thanksgiving Service as well as participates in other activities throughout the year including the Monticello Bagel Festival and other village events.
