GERMANTOWN – A man, whose body was found along railroad tracks just north of the Germantown boat launch Tuesday morning was identified as a Bronx resident.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office reported Wednesday that the man was identified as Juan Cordero, 67.  An investigation revealed Cordero had boarded a northbound freight train out of New York City and for an unknown reason fell from it.
An autopsy performed at St. Peters Hospital determined Cordero died from several blunt force injuries that would be indicative of falling from a moving train. Evidence shows he died on December 20.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in its investigation of the incident by Amtrak Police.
