ALBANY – Unemployment in the Hudson Valley continued its decline in November compared to the same month last year.
Lower unemployment – 4.2 percent, the lowest November since 2007 – coupled with more jobs, means the economy is continuing to grow, said state labor analyst John Nelson.
“Moving forward these are definitely good signs for the region as the job market continues to expand and certainly these unemployment rate numbers, they are going down and that is very much welcoming news,” Nelson said.
Columbia County scoring the lowest rate in the state at 3.5 percent. That compares with 4.1 percent one year ago.
Putnam County, with 4.0 percent joblessness, was ranked fifth in the state.
Dutchess, Rockland and Westchester counties, each with 4.1 percent unemployment,
were tied for seventh lowest in New York.
Orange County was ranked 10th with 4.2 percent unemployment.
Ulster County, at 4.3 percent unemployment, was ranked 16.
Greene County had 5.1 percent joblessness and came in 36th.
Sullivan County, at 5.2 percent, was ranked 39th.
