Teens arrested in Hillcrest with gun, knives, bulletproof vest

HILLCREST – Three youths, ages 14 to 17, are under arrest following a traffic stop in Hillcrest led to the recovery of a gun, pepper spray, two knives, a bulletproof vest and an expandable baton.
They were stopped at about 3:20 a.m. by a Ramapo Town Police officer on patrol, who also found several pieces of stolen property in their car.
Police believe the trio is responsible for larcenies from vehicles in the Hillcrest, Spring Valley and Clarkstown areas. They may be responsible for other crimes in the area as well, police said. The investigation is continuing and Ramapo Police are working in conjunction with Clarkstown Police.
