PEEKSKILL – Police are
investigating the shooting death of a 22-year-old Peekskill man in that
city late Sunday night. He was identified as Stephen Agosto.
This was the first homicide in the city this year.
Police Chief Eric Johansen said the murder occurred on the 1400 block
of Park Street at around 10:20 p.m.
Officers on patrol heard several gunshots and responded to the area where
they found the victim unresponsive. He was transported to New York Presbyterian
Hospital where he died.
Johansen said detectives are following several leads in their attempt
to identify and apprehend the shooter.
New York State Crime Stopper is offering a reward of up to $2,500 for
information that directly leads to the arrest and conviction of the person
or persons responsible for Agosto’s death. Anyone with information
may call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-313-TIPS (8477).
Officers from the Westchester County Department of Public Safety K-9 Division
assisted in the investigation.
