Body found along Germantown train tracks

GERMANTOWN – The Columbia
County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the discovery of a body
next to railroad tracks off Anchorage Road in the Town of Germantown.

At about 8:21 a.m. on Monday, investigators found the body of a man just
north of the Germantown boat launch on the east side of the tracks.

The cause of death has not yet been determined. The victim’s identity
is being withheld pending notification of family.

Rail service between Albany and New York City was not affected with any
delays during the investigation. Trains were instructed by Amtrak officials
to proceed through the Germantown area at a reduced rate of speed.

Assisting with the investigation was Columbia County Coroner James Bertram
and the Amtrak Police.
