WHITE PLAINS – Federal and Sullivan County authorities announced a superseding federal indictment against a Sullivan County man charging that he distributed heroin and fentanyl that caused the overdose death of another man, Malcolm Perry, 35, of Liberty.
Terrence Johnson, 23, was also charged in the new indictment with several additional counts of distributing heroin and fentanyl, conspiring to distribute heroin, and conspiring to distribute crack cocaine. He was charged in the initial indictment filed in June and was previously taken into custody.
“The heroin epidemic is on the rise and too often having deadly consequences,” said US Attorney Preet Bharara.
“Mr. Perry’s untimely death is one of many losses we, as a community, have suffered as a result of the distribution of heroin and fentanyl by those who seek to profit from others’ addictions,” said Sullivan District Attorney James Farrell. “This indictment demonstrates the benefit to Sullivan County that results from combining our resources with those of the federal government, and evaluating laws available on the state and federal levels to determine the best method of prosecution for offers like this.”
