Newburgh bank robbers were out-of-towners

TOWN OF NEWBURGH – The three men charged with robbing the Sterling Bank Branch at 1425 Route 300 in the Town of Newburgh on Wednesday afternoon have been identified as out-of-town residents. They are all spending time in the Orange County Jail now.
During the heist, the men stole several thousand dollars. No employees or customers where hurt.
The suspects had fled the bank onto the Thruway but where captured in less than two hours.
Darren Thompson, 33, of the Bronx, Erik Olin, 25, of the Bronx and Marvin Allen, 72, of Effort, PA, the driver, were all arrested.  They were each charged with felony robbery and grand larceny.  Thompson was previously arrested and convicted for robbing a Bank of America branch on Route 300 in 2008 along with several others.
Following their arraignment Thursday, Thompson and Olin were sent to the Orange County Jail without bail.  Allen is held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
The investigation is continuing.
