WASHINGTON – The Highland
Falls-Fort Montgomery School District has once again been saved by Washington
with millions in federal impact aid.

The district will receive $3.5 million needed to keep it running since
90-plus percent of its property is off the tax rolls, owned by either
the federal government at West Point, or the state.

When the president initially released his fiscal year 2016 budget, it
included no impact aid and that would have been devastating for the local
district.
The money is included within the federal omnibus spending bill.

Senators Charles Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, and Rep. Sean Patrick
Maloney fought to have the money restored.
