TOWN OF WALLKILL – State officials announced the formal completion of the $75 million project that saw the reconstruction of exit 122 on Route 17 in the Town of Wallkill.  The project took three years to complete.
The reconstruction included the redesign of exit and entrance approaches to Route 17 and the realignment of East Main Street and Crystal Run Road in Wallkill.
State Transportation Commissioner Matthew Driscoll said the project “enhances mobility throughout the region, supports economic development and provides safer access to the local community, including the Orange Regional Medical Center, an important health care facility in the county.”
“This work is important because Exit 122 off of Route 17 represents a very important corridor for commerce in the heart of Orange County,” said Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus. “It will also reduce congestion for commuters. The timing of the completion of this project is perfect with the holidays here.”
“This has been another year of great progress here in the Town of Wallkill,” said Town Supervisor Daniel Depew. “I am pleased to work with the state and county to make noticeable, needed improvements to the infrastructure we all depend on.”
