Dump truck pulls down wires, damages poles, Route 52 in Meadow Hill area of Town of Newburgh closed

A section of State Route 52 in the
Town of Newburgh will be closed for an extended period as the result of
a traffic accident. At about 5:30 p.m. Town Police responded to Route
52 east of Route 300 for a report of an accident with power lines down.
A dump truck was being driven along Route 52 near the Tarsio Bowling Lanes
with the dump body raised. Numerous lines across Route 52 were pulled
down. A number of utility poles are also reportedly down or heavily damaged.
Some power outages are being reported in business and residential areas
near the scene.
There are no known injuries at this time.
Eastbound traffic on Route 52 is being diverted at Route 300. Westbound
traffic is being diverted at Meadow Avenue. Route 52 may be closed until
early Wednesday while Central Hudson crews work to clear up the damage
and restore power.
