TOWN OF CHESTER – What was first thought to be an attempted abduction by three men in a van turned out to be nothing more than them stopping to ask a woman for directions to the Thruway.
The woman, who was walking her dog on Pine Hill Road in the Town of Chester
around 3:20 p.m. on Monday, reported to police that three men in their
20s, of “Middle Eastern” descent, wearing braided “Indian”
robes, pulled over to ask for directions.  The side door of the van
slid open and a man in the back appeared ready lunge at the woman, so
she ran off.
Chester Town and Village Police and State Police converged on the scene and the van was pulled over nearby.
Chester Town Police Chief Daniel Doellinger said that the incident turned out to be nothing more than a misunderstanding due to language barrier.
