CARMEL – Putnam County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested a Town of Southeast man on a charge that he falsely reported a violent attack at a group home in Southeast on Friday, November 20. Christopher Lopez, 30, was also charged with assaulting a hospital nurse in a separate case.
At about 3 p.m. on November 20 Lopez allegedly placed a phone call reporting that a group home on John Simpson Road was violently attacked by an armed assailant. That call prompted a large-scale police response and forced the closure of the road for some three hours.
Lopez was also charged with felony assault in another case where he is accused of kicking and knocking to the floor a female nurse at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel. That offense allegedly occurred on November 20, just hours after the false phone report concerning the group home was placed.
Lopez was sent to the Putnam County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1,000 bond.
