GOSHEN – Marie Giannone, the 55-year-old Goshen woman who was murdered
by her ex-boyfriend, former Newburgh City Deputy Police Chief Patrick
Sorrentino on Saturday, was a registry clerk in the receiving department
of the Orange County Clerk’s Office since 2002.

County Executive Steven Neuhaus said Giannone was a “hard-working
and well-liked employee.” He said she was “dedicated to serving
residents and will be greatly missed by all.”

County Clerk Annie Rabbitt said everyone at the county is grieving her
loss. “She was a wonderful woman who was adored by her co-workers
and the public she served. Marie will be remembered lovingly by her family,
friends and co-workers.”

Rabbitt said the county clerk’s office will remain open, but with
