MID-HUDSON – Area counties in the region are banding together to crack down on impaired drivers during the extended Thanksgiving holiday period. The effort is part of the state’s STOP-DWI enforcement and will run from Wednesday, November 25 through Sunday, November 29.  They noted that research shows that high-visibility enforcement can reduce drunk driving fatalities by as much as 20 percent.
The statewide effort is promoted by the New York State STOP-DWI Association with additional funding from the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee and implemented by the STOP-DWI Foundation.
The December holiday season will also be targeted for a crackdown campaign.
